A close family friend, Sylvia Stultz, has been re-hospitalized for terminal cancer. But she is doing somewhat better today and is likely to go home this weekend.
I took Kathrin to the airport yesterday afternoon so she could fly to Ithaca and help Sylvia's daughter Jill pack and drive home tomorrow (ending her year early).
Sally has been at the hospital with Sylvia and Sylvia's mother since about 8am yesterday morning and both sally and Sylvia's mother slept there last night.
I returned to the hospital at 3am this morning to help monitor Sylvia because the pain specialist made it clear that he was nervous about increasing her pain meds dosages if someone weren't with her pretty constantly to be sure she hadn't accidentally overdosed... and Sally wasn't sure she can stay alert past 3. Sally slept for a couple hours flat on her back on the floor from about 4-6am. Sylvia's mother dozed in a chair.
Sylvia's 2 sisters are going to arrive this evening and tomorrow morning.
Kathrin & Jill are due to arrive in DC about 7pm tonight.
Sally is doing a remarkable job of supporting Sylvia, especially when dealing with the various medical "activities" at the hospital.
Love to All
Steve
